Along with reporting your injury, here are some other things you need to do:

  • Obtain medical treatment. Without this, there’s no way to prove that you’re actually injured. So, don’t hesitate to seek treatment, even if you believe you only have a minor injury.
  • Update your employer. For example, if your doctor suggests that you take time away from work to recover, you should communicate this to your employer. It’s better to stay in touch than to simply skip work and hope they figure things out.
  • File a workers’ compensation claim. If you’re unable to work, you can’t earn money for you and your family. And for that reason, you’re sure to have concerns about your financial circumstances.
